Painting with Light

German photographer and light painter Mark Irgang and his team are true light artist. They perform with the latest LED technology and other light sources, which, in combination with long exposure, leads to extraordinary results. The photographs are all created in real time in front of the camera, only at night without any digital post-editing.

A great number of the light tools are battery powered, their modular design allowing for easy modification even on location.

The shapes are created by the traces left by the lighting tools. These tools are mostly DYI, using LED chains of lights, Led strips, flashlights and glow sticks.

Mark Irgang uses eneloop rechargeable batteries, because after many weeks of preparation, the team must be 100 % sure they can rely on the equipment.
